We are currently seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join our dedicated team in supporting and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps Old School RuneScape running smoothly for our millions of players worldwide.
As our Junior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and maintenance of the game's systems and server infrastructure. You will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to ensure the reliable operation of the game, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and contribute to the ongoing improvement and optimization of the systems.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about computer games and has a strong interest in infrastructure and system engineering. You will have the chance to work on a globally recognized game and learn from experienced professionals in the industry.
What you'll be doing:
- Responsible for the development of the game systems and infrastructure features using Java
- Learning about, developing and improving our existing Java codebase; programming new systems and expanding or improving existing ones
- Continually seeking new opportunities for product and personal development
- Developing a deeper understanding of Java game systems and our in-game scripting language
- Learning about (and contribute towards) cloud technologies
- Experience in a programming language (such as Java, C#) or script language (Javascript or Python)
- A passion for coding and a hunger for games
- Willing to work on some of the most challenging problems in gaming
