Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom University of Exeter Full time

This full-time role is offered on an open-ended basis, subject to funding, and is available immediately. The role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. Applicants interested in working part-time (minimum 80% FTE), or fully remotely, are encouraged to make contact to discuss options.

The Post
The Exeter Clinical Trials Unit (ExeCTU) is seeking an ambitious individual with clinical trials data management experience to join its Information Systems and Data Management (ISDM) team as a Data Specialist. With a diverse portfolio of clinical trials and close-knit team, this is an exciting time to join a growing and forward-thinking trials unit.

Data Specialists at ExeCTU take the lead role in the design, development and testing of electronic clinical trial data capture databases during study setup. ExeCTU uses REDCap as its primary tool for data capture and data management. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable skills and experience in developing and maintaining study databases in REDCap, or an equivalent system, and have a commitment to ensuring data quality and integrity. They are also a key member of the trial team supporting the subsequent data management activity, helping to maximise the quality and completeness of trial data collected to answer important health and social care research questions.

The Data Specialist will need to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team consisting of ISDM colleagues, other CTU colleagues such as trial managers and statisticians, and with external investigators and their research teams. The Data Specialist is typically assigned to multiple studies as the main contact for data management activities. They will also assist on other studies and ISDM activities where required.

ExeCTU
Exeter Clinical Trials Unit (ExeCTU) is a UKCRC-registered, University of Exeter supported Unit. ExeCTU works in collaboration with researchers and clinicians in the design and delivery of high quality and efficient multi-centre trials and other well-designed studies addressing important health questions to improve health and well-being. Our study portfolio includes trials in dementia, mental health, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, medicinal drugs, surgical techniques and complex interventions.

Benefits
We offer some fantastic benefits including:

  • 41 days leave per year
  • options for flexible working
  • numerous discounts at leading retailers
  • onsite gyms on all of our campuses and a cycle to work scheme
  • sector leading policies around maternity, adoption and shared parental leave (up to 26 weeks full pay), paternity leave (up to six weeks full pay) and a Fertility Treatment Policy
  • stunning campus environments in Exeter and Cornwall, in the beautiful South West of England
