About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual looking for a new challenge to own a portfolio of clients and work in a growing, sector focussed team in a mid-tier firm.

Your role will be largely client facing and you will be the main point of contact for each client, acting as their conduit to the wider RSM service offering.

Over time your portfolio will grow as new clients are won and transitioned on board. Your involvement in the initial client take on process and assisting with the transition of new jobs will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the client from the outset of the relationship.

As your relationship with our clients develops having an analytical mind and close attention to detail will be key when liaising with stakeholders at all levels of the business, interpreting regular financial information and providing analysis and explanations for variances.

Your contribution will be key to the delivery of profitable work across the portfolio with the support from relevant Outsourcing Managers.

Responsibilities
Prepare and / or review EU & UK VAT returns, adding value wherever possible (technical, problem solving) and anticipating client expectations.Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of sector / industry specific VAT issues, supply chain models, intra community transactions, EU & UK VAT and compliance reporting.Works within the GVCR team to onboard clients on to VAT compliance systems including liaison with in-house teams to undertake VAT registrations and VAT advisory supportSupport GVCR teams on client calls, third party vendors or meetings, taking responsibility for VAT technical and reporting expertiseAssist in conducting VAT automation testing on client data to RSM VAT compliance system from a Global VAT compliance perspectiveIdentify and discuss out of scope requirements if / as they arise during the on-boarding process or compliance ,delivery process and assist seniors in negotiations as appropriate. Ensure client deadlines and expectations are met or exceeded (client focus, managing self and others, goal / results focus). Assist in management of WIP billing and debtors on clients, support and assist seniors in an effective manner as and when required.Develop supportive and effective working relationships with members of the team, promoting cooperation and input whilst keeping seniors informed of activities and progress.Build strong relationships with clients and act as a bridge between clients and delivery teams where required

Personal and professional qualities
Experience within a similar role and ideally, experience working at accounting firms .Good understanding of Global VAT compliance delivery centre model.Previous experience in VAT compliance reporting, with a strong understanding of VAT regulations in both the EU and the UK.Experience in supervising and training team members.Ability to plan own workload, delegate effectively, organise and manage time efficiently and effectively.Ideally part qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or extensive work experience in the field with strong VAT technical skills.Strong understanding of ERP systems used by business and intermediate / advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Good presentational and client development skills are a requisite.
