About the Role

The School of Engineering is looking for a Teacher of Mechanical Engineering to join the team to inspire the next generation of young people into industry. Working at our Printworks Campus, you will be in a state of the art environment supporting students to complete their apprenticeships and ensure they are ready to take that step into employment at the end of their course.

If you do not have a teaching qualification but have a relevant industry related qualification and work experience in the area, we are still interested in your application as we can help you gain a teaching qualification (funded with no cost to yourself).

We offer regular professional development training with all staff within the department spending at least one day a year out in industry. What You Will Do

  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
  • Be responsible for recording student progress
  • Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
  • Carry out internal verification/moderation.

About You

  • Preferably holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE)
  • Relevant up to date subject knowledge and recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum
  • Industry experience working with FUSION 360, Inventor CAM and Additive Manufacturing
  • Good industrial knowledge in a machining environment.
  • Experience of CAD and CAM is desirable but training can be provided to up skill.
