Boston Borough Council has an exciting opportunity to join it's Democratic Services Team in the role of Democratic Services Officer.

This is a permanent, full time role, supporting the Democratic Services Team Leader with the efficient and effective administration of Council together with all necessary council committee meetings, sub committees, working groups and panel meetings. Ensuring the meetings are in accordance with the requirements of the Council's constitution, all relevant statutory legislation/regulations and guidance.

You will be responsible for administering various committees/boards/panels, many of which meet in public. Providing advice and support to Officers and Elected Members in relation to governance, decision making and democratic processes as well as organise and contribute to a range democratic and governance projects is a key part to the role. Whilst working primarily within the democratic functions of the team, you will also have the opportunity to support our elections function, developing new skills and experiences.

What we need from you:

  • Experience of local government law and practice.
  • Organised, accurate, have great oral and written communication skills, have good interpersonal skills, and you will be able to work under pressure to pre-determined deadlines.
  • Confident and tactful in dealing with elected members and senior officers and be able to think logically and plan ahead.
  • Proficient with general IT systems such as MS Office.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.

Many of our meetings take place outside of normal working hours so flexibility will be needed for this role.
