The Opportunity
Supporting the Dundee factory, the role is central to the finance structure and will be highly visible within DFS group. The role forms a key part of the DFS UK Finance team and provides a privileged position embedded within the business.

Reporting to the DFS UK Finance Director, this is a key finance role within a dynamic, growing business requiring a high calibre individual.

The Financial Accounting Manager position incorporates a blend of technical financial accounting with business partnering, team leadership and strong communication / influencing skills which require a high calibre individual who is strong interpersonally, self-motivated, flexible and possesses excellent business acumen. It is important that the Financial Accounting Manager brings energy, drive, passion and a highly inquisitive nature. In addition, it is likely the individual will come from a large business background where they will be experienced in the reporting, commercial and management requirements of a complex, global company.

This role requires a professionally qualified accountant, ideally from a practice background, with strong business partnering skills. The individual must be capable of driving corporate financial policy, supporting business controls and internal/external audits, delivering insightful management information coupled with developing robust working relationships with Senior Management, EMEA Finance and the wider Dover business. In particular, it is essential that the individual can provide sound financial guidance to aid decision making and possess sufficient gravitas to challenge current thinking.

  • Graduate calibre with high academic achievement and relevant professional qualification
  • Previous experience within practice and/or a manufacturing environment or related sector beneficial, either in current or in a previous role

  • The main function of the role is to support the Dundee factory through excellence in Technical Accounting, Business Partnering, Reporting, Financial Best Practice, Business Change and Communication.

    The main duties and responsibilities are as follows:
    • Driving corporate financial policy, supporting business controls and delivering insightful management information
    • UK GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS compliance
    • Leading and supporting on Sox, Audits, Statutory Filings, Trade Compliance and Financial Projects
    • Ensuring the delivery of monthly results and supporting information in line with the corporate timetable
    • Support the review of account reconciliations
    • Support in driving down Accounts Receivable balances, including liasing with shared service centre
    • Responsibility for the implementation of financial policy, the enforcement of internal controls and compliance
    • Liaising with the EMEA team on Financial Accounting, Cash Management, Compliance, Tax
    • Monthly VAT, intrastat, EC sales, both UK and Europe
    • Analyse accounting systems used by business to review for opportunities to improve, standardise controls and mitigate risk.
    • Support Know Your Customer activities
