Junior Broker (Reinsurance, Asia Pacific) - Guy Carpenter - London

What can you expect?

  • Assist with the renewal of reinsurance programs with a focus on Japanese and broader Asia Pacific based clients and prospects.
  • Meet with clients, as necessary, to learn their needs and maintain/develop strong relationships.
  • Assist with the renewal of contracts for clients, placing business with client-approved reinsurers.
  • Working in close contact with the Data Analytics team to create bespoke client solutions.
  • Negotiate with reinsurers on pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve positives outcomes for clients.
  • Produce placement slips, cover notes and contracts, as needed.
  • Monitor the follow-up on contract documentation, ensuring the timely flow of materials.

We will rely on you to:

  • Perform tasks related to the quoting, binding and servicing of new and renewal accounts to assist with serving clients.
  • Assist with responding to client requests for information, coordinating with other departments as necessary, and clearing with senior brokers.
  • Update more senior-level Brokers and Supervisors on issues, progress etc, regularly and upon request to assist the Broker with serving clients.
  • Assist in the timely production of placement slips, cover notes, and policies and in tracing payment and collecting of premiums to provide quality deliverables to clients.
  • Maintain business relationships to better serve clients.

What you need to have:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (ideally with a 2:1 or higher).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • The will to process instructions whilst working under pressure and desire to develop relationships
  • Comfortable working with large datasets
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills

  • Intermediate/advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP etc.)
  • PowerPoint skills
  • Japanese (or other Asia Pacific) language skills
  • Insurance industry experience
