Accounting Placement – Intern (12 Months)

Office environment

Accounts is the key control of the business to ensure our portfolio, assets and liabilities are controlled and protected by following company procedures. The accounts team ensures our customers and suppliers can rely on us to regarding the accuracy of accounting for cash application. The department works alongside all parts of the business, ensuring our processes meet relevant standards and our customers' journeys from start to end meet our high standards.

Overview of Accounting

At AGCO Finance, the accounting team is responsible for cashflow, incoming and outgoing payments, financed contract payouts, reconciliations, controls, VAT and tax, and monthly reporting of financials and the submission of the statutory accounts. With this variety of tasks it allows students who want to explore these areas of the company to gather invaluable experience and help them discover interests and direction for future careers.

By the time you have completed your year placement you will have gained invaluable experience and knowledge of core day to day operating of the accounting tasks, as well as building relationships and communication skills in an office environment.

What to expect

  • Learning and undertaking a variety of transactional day-to-day tasks in cashiers and accounting, such as payment of invoices, applications of customer receipts, reconciliations, banking and control.
  • Understanding the basic principle of the day-to-day activities in the accounting department.
  • Learn how to review and check customer contracts, to enable us to make payments to local suppliers to finance AGCO equipment.
  • Testing financial controls to comply with Group and local audit requirements.
  • Interact with other departments resolving ad hoc customer and accounting queries as required.
  • Assisting with the documentation of processes in the new Oracle Accounting system.

Essentials

  • Applicants need to have the right to work in the UK.
  • The office is in a rural location not easily accessible by public transportation, please keep it in mind before applying.
  • Must have a good working knowledge (and experience using) MS products, especially Outlook, Teams and Excel).
  • Applications will preferably be working at a 2:1 level or above in and Accounting and/or Finance related degree.

Competencies and skills

  • Be keen to learn the day-to-day skills required to work in Accounting.
  • Once fully trained and confident in the task, be able to work on your own initiative, reaching out for guidance as required.
  • Be enthusiastic to get the job done.
  • Be a confident communicator, whether working remotely or in the office.
  • Have an eye for detail ensuring accuracy - imperative when working in an Accounts environment.
  • Computer literate - aptitude for learning new systems.

Good to know

  • Deadline application 12th May 2024 or as role is filled, so an early application is suggested.
  • This placement will run from July 2024 to July 2025.
  • Reports to the Finance Manager.
  • Office Location: Abbey Park, Stoneleigh (near Kenilworth)
  • Hybrid working (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)
