Engineering Manager | Engineering | Competitive salary plus excellent benefits | Leicester | Full Time - Permanent

Spire Leicester Hospital in Oadby are looking for an Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, on a daily basis, the building, equipment and grounds, ensuring an efficient maintenance and engineering service to all departments in a cost-effective manager. You will also be the lead for fire safety and work closely with the Health and Safety Coordinator.

Accountabilities and Activities

  • Develop and implement a Planned Preventative Maintenance system and carry out on a daily and weekly basis, all routine checks and replacements required. Also maintain in an accurate manner the associated planning and record systems.
  • To monitor the energy management system (BMS), undertake action and maintain related records of performance.
  • To identify and initiate action, either directly or via contractors, on all reports required in the event of a breakdown or defect.
  • To supervise, record and coordinate all maintenance contracts and visits of service engineers in the event of call outs or routine maintenance checks.
  • To identify all maintenance work not covered by planned programmes and initiate action as required either directly or via contractors after consultation with department heads and the manager.
  • To carry out or coordinate any minor alterations or small schemes to the Building as and when required by the manager, and to liaise with design staff regarding new capital works.
  • To ensure stock levels of engineering items and consumables, including diesel oil for emergency generation, are kept at a satisfactory level.
  • To ensure cost efficient and effective maintenance for the electrical installation within the hospital and that all portable electrical equipment and all electro medical equipment with the hospital is adequately maintained within safety regulations or manufacturers recommendations, either directly or by the use of contract labour. In addition you will be responsible for the communications systems in the hospital as well.
  • To ensure the availability of an emergency maintenance service outside of normal hours by personal standby and contractor availability on a rota system.
  • To produce an ongoing programme of training and development for staff, including induction, orientation and personal development.
  • Be the authorised person for piped medical gas installation.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

  • Must have a background of working in an identical or similar role, ideally in a Healthcare environment
  • Must have a trade background - ideally electrical
  • Must have medical gas and ventilation experience
  • Ability to build relationships with all customer groups
  • Ability to influence diverse sets of audiences
  • Proactive and able to self-motivate
  • The post holder will require participation in an on call rota. The job may require some evening and weekend working. The majority of the working week will be hospital based, however the job may entail some travel for area or national meetings that may require an overnight stay.

37.5 hours per week
