Job Description

We are currently seeking two Senior Specialists to join our Corporate Affairs team. One role will focus primarily on oncology policy and communications, reporting to the Director of Oncology Policy & Communications and the other focussing primarily on science policy and communications, reporting to the Director of Corporate Policy & Communications. As part of our global network of policy and communications experts, you will have the chance to work on impactful projects that shape the external environment and enable patient access to our medicines and vaccines.

At our company, the Corporate Affairs team reports to the Managing Director and is part of a worldwide network of communications and policy experts under the Global Corporate Affairs organisation. Corporate Affairs leads and delivers our company's corporate and strategic communications including internal communications, social and digital media and policy and communications strategies including – central to this role – its franchise and corporate policy and communications.

In these roles, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and Corporate Affairs colleagues to develop and deliver policy and communications programmes that align with our business goals. You will play a pivotal role in providing support and delivering key tactics, as well as engaging with stakeholders in the healthcare and life sciences landscape. To excel in this role, you should thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a proactive and can-do attitude, and be a strong team player. Experience in policy engagement and communication, particularly in the health and life sciences sector, is preferred. Reporting to a Director of Policy & Communications you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organisation and the patients we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of our franchise goals, critical success factors, and external/internal policy and communications challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver Corporate Affairs policy and communications programmes that drive the our business towards its goals in a measurable way.
  • Identify and engage internal and external stakeholders and audiences relevant to our compa, prioritising and managing their engagement.
  • Provide strategic counsel on communications and relevant business issues to colleagues across the organisation, including business and functional leaders.
  • Manage tactical communications delivery, including suppliers, across various specialisms such as brand and therapy-area communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement, and social and digital media.
  • Contribute to the broader Corporate Affairs team and function, participating in key strategic and department initiatives.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of the UK health and life sciences policy environment, the life sciences industry, and public health trends.
  • Understanding of our portfolio, services, corporate responsibility, and public policy priorities.
  • Ability to champion our mission, strategy, values, science and franchise plans, using internal and external engagement to shape our future business and organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder analysis, engagement, and influencing skills, with the ability to align objectives across stakeholder groups.
  • Expertise in developing and delivering communication strategies and providing counsel for challenging communication scenarios.
  • Proficiency in understanding target audiences, developing key messages and materials, and selecting appropriate media and channels for communication.
  • Ability to develop project plans, garner support for resource allocation, and manage budgets, risks, and timelines.
  • Compliance with internal and external standards, regulations, and industry codes of conduct.
  • Impeccable integrity, accountability, continuous learning mindset, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
