We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Mathematics to lead this 'Outstanding' Mathematics Department. As the Head of Mathematics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences for all students. You will lead a team of dedicated mathematics educators, fostering a collaborative and innovative approach to curriculum delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership for the Mathematics Department, inspiring and motivating staff to achieve excellence in teaching and learning.
- Lead the development and implementation of a dynamic and engaging mathematics curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and the school's educational goals.
- Mentor and support a team of mathematics teachers, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, implementing strategies to drive improvement and raise student attainment.
- Utilise data effectively to track student progress and identify areas for intervention and support.
- Cultivate positive relationships with students, parents, and external stakeholders, promoting the importance of mathematics education within the wider community.
- Stay abreast of developments in mathematics education, incorporating best practices and innovative methodologies into departmental planning and delivery.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant academic qualifications in mathematics or a related field.
- Proven experience as a successful mathematics educator, with a track record of raising student achievement.
- Previous leadership experience within a mathematics department or similar role.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- A passion for mathematics education and a commitment to promoting the subject to students of all abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to use data to inform decision-making.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider leadership team.
