The project:
Mace consult is supporting a client within the utilities / water industry. We are supporting our client with project controls and PMO team for a large scale complex infrastructure project. Mace consult will provide planning, project controls and PMO services for the the clients portfolio. To support project managers in the delivery of projects by providing high level planning service for the preparation of project plans, producing baseline scheduled tasks, resource profiles and financial models. The successful person will be involved in improving the consistency, predictability and efficiency of the programmes project delivery capability and provides leadership in best practices and is highly customer-focused - outward and upward and that these are consistent with customer expectations. The role will ensure that the operational issues of the project controls and PMO are managed, focusing on the project interface with project leaders, project managers, project teams, and interface issues.

  • Good working knowledge of planning/scheduling, EVM, project controls methodologies.
  • Ability to advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively.
  • Able to manage planning/scheduling delivery of medium/high complexity projects / programmes.
  • Ability to play key role in multidisciplinary teams and take lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.
  • Leads and manages a team of professionals delivering planning/schedule management services and responsible for staff development.
  • Mastery in setting up effective planning / schedule management systems and procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of schedule management tools and software.
  • Managing resourcing, growing and developing the team.
  • Able to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcomes.
  • Support to senior management in deal negotiations, contract development, due diligence & other business development or alliance development projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to validate and check schedule management inputs, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary and analysis.

You'll need to have:

  • Exposure of working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large scale civil engineering / infrastructure projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client side consultancy.
  • Construction related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).
  • Digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
  • Experience of working on large projects/programmes.
  • Construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace have to offer.
  • Working in a large portfolio of projects.
  • Mentoring and upskilling of inexperienced planners.
  • Implementation of planning principles within the project management community.
  • Working with large range of stakeholders.
  • Planning of complicated infrastructure projects and summarisation of these into portfolio level schedules.
  • Experienced P6 user (P6 pro).
  • Familiarisation with P6 EPPM (Web) – for config management – see below
  • Management of large data sets into simple reporting formats, through coding and layout manipulation
  • Baseline control and config.
  • Schedule import and export.

You'll also have:

  • NEC
  • Civils / infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarisation with other planning software - P6, Microsoft Project, Asta Power Project.
  • Schedule risk analysis (QSRA)
  • P6 configuration management - user access, OBS creation and management, user profiles, OBS assignation.
  • Set up and use of resources - future project not yet required.
  • Use of P6 for EVM - future project not yet required.
