Our Pharma Services Swindon site provides full commercial manufacturing services sterile products and high-potency products that improve patient's lives. Swindon champions a standard Contract Manufacturing and Condo Model structure and manufactures speciality drug products for unique clients.


The site has had a huge amount of investment and growth in the last years and we are now looking to hire an Operations Director to take the site to next level and to provide strategic leadership to our team.


The job:


This is a pivotal role to integrate all operational activities and teams into a "One Operations team", currently CONDO and CMO Operations are sole entities at the Swindon site.

Utilising the "One operations mindset" delivering a business cadence, delivering critical KPI`s in safety, quality, delivery reliance, people and customer satisfaction.

This role will report directly and work closely with the Site General Manager, the Swindon SLT and Functional Leaders to build a successful "One Site" operations team, supporting the transformation of the Swindon site.

All Operations Managers and directly associated Technical Managers will report to this role.

How will you make an impact?
Overview of Responsibilities

Management of the production plan:

  • Build strategic capabilities within the Operations Management team and Operations delivery teams to deliver to Clients requests.
  • Through integration to the Site S&OP process, working with Planning and Supply functions, find opportunities to "Do more with no more", delivering a competitive differentiator to the wider business and our clients.
  • Build technical capabilities within the Operations teams to resolve todays issues that prevent or risk the completion of our commitments to our clients.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Embracing an Innovative mindset, integrating with Site and Business PPI (Process Improvements) Leaders to maximise the Operational teams' capabilities, leading to a "Do more with no more" status.
  • Drive and inquisitive mindset within own teams, through robust daily meeting cadence and KPI metrics utilized through visible displays, driving decisions and finding opportunities to "Be better always".

Compliance:

  • Drive a collaborative Culture with the Safety and Quality function, ensuring all company quality standards, by ensuring all documentation, procedures and training packages align, with processes, premises and personnel qualified to the regulatory standards, as a core business activity.
  • Through collaboration with Quality function to manage all Quality records related to Operations, through a "Zero defect" Mindset, with no impact to our Clients.
  • Manage and own business continuity and risk registers for the Operations function, with investment requested to mitigate recorded risks as required, via the CAPEX process.

Financial management:

  • Forge a close relationship with the Financial Leads at Swindon, ensuring daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial metrics are attained for all cost center`s within Operational control. Ensuring recovery plans are in place where financial challenges exist.
  • Ensure a close relationship with Business Management to realise "New Client" Opportunities, adding financial benefits, Investment and growth opportunities to the Site and Organisation.

Talent and team management:

  • Creates an Operational organization, competently trained and capable to meet Site, Business and Client demands. With all personnel involved in the performance management processes.
  • Creates an environment where talent is identified, attracted, motivated, deployed and retained. Acts as mentor/coach for talents within the area to enables exceptional performance.
  • Act as a role model in line with the leadership imperatives, Swindon`s Vision, promoting the wider business values and culture.

Job Scope:

  • Accountable for the management and execution of the manufacturing activities at site level.

Interaction and Influence:

  • As a member of the Site Leadership Team, contribute to the definition and execution of the Swindon strategy.
  • Be a role model to everyone on the site, inspiring and creating an environment of success.
  • Strong influence on site decision making, also in terms of feasibility assessment for production activities.
  • Interaction with clients for production activities, both signed and pipeline.

Oversight provided:

  • Leadership of Operational teams
  • Oversight on specific site projects to promote innovation and site growth.

Who are we looking for?

Education:

  • Bachelor Scientific Degree preferred

Experience:

  • Proven experience preferred in the Pharma industry or extensive experience in a relevant industry
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven experience in leading Operational teams

Competencies:

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry supply chain strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing under cGMP conditions and pharmaceutical industry regulatory environment.
  • Detailed understanding of cost center and budgeting control.
  • Extensive troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced written and spoken communication skills.
  • Advanced presentation skills, at a level to make presentations to senior executive/board level.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to build and manage effective team.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
