The role

What will you be doing?

We are looking for an Actuarial Manager to join our Actuarial Risk & Capital function here at Unum UK.

You will be working on supporting capital management and initiatives, the setting of assumptions and calibrations of Internal Model risks, seeking input from experts and communicating your area of expertise to the wider business.

What will you bring?

We would like this person to be at least 1 year post qualified, with a good understanding of commonly used capital modelling and risk management techniques. You will be required to organise the wider team, provide support to junior members and review work. This person will have strong actuarial judgment and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the market.

Required knowledge & Skills:

  • Qualified Actuary, 1+ years post qualified
  • Able to monitor and react to changes in the external environment and emerging risks
  • Have a strong change mindset, seeking and driving competitive improvements
  • Will have high levels of accuracy and attention to detail and figures.
  • Able to take the initiative and ability to work under pressure, managing own time to meet tight deadlines and managing competing and conflicting demands within your workload.
  • Able to coach a number of actuarial trainees, and provide on the job and career coaching.

We operate a Hybrid working model - the Actuarial Team get together 1-2 days a week in our Dorking office.
