Our Actuarial teams manage the pricing, reserve support and reporting for our businesses. We have a robust development program that provides a rich learning environment for all levels. Our training and leadership conferences help you deepen your knowledge and build experience.What will you bring?
Key Accountabilities
- Actuarial Consultants are expected to have moved between functions & developed competence in the different Actuarial activities. The 5 principal activities are Valuation & Regulatory Reporting, Actuarial Systems, Capital & Risk Management, Product Development & Profitability and Financial & Experience Analyses.
- To have a good knowledge and be able to train more junior members of the team in Actuarial activities.
- To act as an Actuarial contact point for internal and some external customers and to provide accurate technical input and explanation.Â
- To carry out Actuarial investigations & analyses and lead project teams as required.
- Training and scheduling of work to ensure that team objectives are achieved and the team becomes a multi-disciplined and flexible workforce.
- Find better ways of performing the teamâs work and then make recommendations and successfully implement if the changes are approved.
- To own Actuarial tasks, understand the broader business implications and to provide Actuarial and Senior Management with comprehensive insight into those tasks and their outcomes.Â
- To proactively liaise with the broader business, provide expertise & guidance and to lead business thought in areas of expertise.
- To be able to communicate confidently and effectively on technical topics to a wide range of audiences and to influence cross functional business decision making.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Student or ex-student actuary with a high number of actuarial examination passes/significant experience.
- Expert understanding of FoxPro and Excel software.
- Highly numerate.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liase with business stakeholders.
- Motivated, enthusiastic and inquisitive.
- The ability to work under pressure, managing own time to meet tight deadlines and managing competing and conflicting demands within your workload.
- We operate a "locate for your day" approach to hybrid working. The Actuarial Teams get together twice a week in our Dorking office.
