The role does require a strong accounting skill set, with experience of audits, statutory accounts and reporting a prerequisite. As a Senior Financial Accountant, there is an expectation that the candidate will be able to work self-sufficiently and be comfortable in assuming responsibility for their activities. WTW are seeking ways to drive automation and process improvement and strong Excel and IT literacy are important for this role. The role will benefit from working within a vibrant and ambitious team with the opportunity to network more widely within a Company where every day presents a new order to provide cover for a period of maternity leave, the GB and Ireland Controllership team are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for a fixed term contract of 12 month. The successful candidate will be a bright, committed, and proactive individual to join Willis Towers Watson as a qualified accountant with post qualified experience, having gained experience either through a professional practice or ideally a medium/large organization.The GB and Ireland Controllership team (which form a key component of the wider WTW Financial Controllership group) operates across three teams and locations (Ipswich, Reigate and Dublin) with many activities shared across these locations. This role will be based either in Reigate or Ipswich, but will work across activities across all three of the teams, with our hybrid working model well placed to facilitate this. The Dublin team has recently joined the GB group, and as a result there will be focus on the alignment of activities across the GB and Ireland teams, as well as process alignment within the GB function itself. The successful candidate will be involved in these activities, as well as assuming responsibility for certain month-end and year end close activities, statutory account preparation/review and taking a key role in supporting the audit.The Role:Principal Accountabilities:
  • Within the Controllership Team your accountabilities will include:
  • Responsibilities over the accounting and reconciliation activities for key parts of the GB and Ireland monthly close cycle;
  • Oversight and review of certain journal and reconciliation activities of our offshore accounting partners;
  • Understanding, apply and document accounting policies under US GAAP and FRS101/102
  • To support the collation of audit evidence for year end and interim audit testing across the teams
  • Taking a key role in the preparation of annual statutory accounts
  • Assisting in the operational process alignment activities across the team
  • Taking a key role in in the completion of quarterly and ad-hoc regulatory returns and requests, as well as Office of National Statistics returns
  • Supporting the wider WTW Financial Controllership function in identify, designing and implementing control and process improvements, including through new technology and automation; and,
  • In addition to the regular month-end activity, there will be a significant volume of ad-hoc project work, often working alongside other areas of the WTW Group Finance organization. The Requirements:
    • Qualified accountant, ACA or ACCA
    • Post qualified experience, and a track record of assuming responsibility for activities
    • Have had experience working in or auditing large or complex environments
    • Have an ability to deal with large and/or complex volumes of data;
    • Have the drive to get tasks done by immovable deadlines whilst not losing attention to detail;
    • Be able to work alone and as part of a team
    • Ability to influence and guide more junior team members
    • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
