Train & Resource Planner

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing diagrams that are accurate and compliant with rostering codes of practice and will work to weekly deadlines. They will also be required to ensure that that the most efficient plans are adhered to on a week to week basis. In this role, the candidate will help to manage taxi costs on a week to week basis with the aim of delivering cost improvements on a monthly basis.
The working hours for this role is as follows:
Monday 9am to 3pm
Tuesday 9am to 3pm
Wednesday 9am to 5pm
Thursday 9am to 7pm
Friday 9am to 4pm
Closing date: 18th April 2024
Produce cost effective rosters and diagrams that will maximise the use of resources in order to meet customer demands whilst also adhering to safety standards, legislation, policies and procedures.Ensuring any diagrams produced with lodge turns have been highlighted to the relevant parties.Liaise and build strong working relationships with Control to support short term planning requirements and diagrams. Liaise effectively with the rest of the Planning Team to help facilitate diagrams in other locations.Develop and adopt suitable measures to continuously improve performance and reduce costs.Roster train crew to relevant turns on a weekly basisRecord all accommodation instances and lodging allowances for the Finance Department.Populate train planning grids as required

Understanding of the railway industryRailway planning experienceConfident and proactiveGSCE in Maths and English, or equivalentGood attention to detailExcellent communication skillsRemains calm under pressure and be capable of working to tight deadlines.Logical approach to problem solvingWorking accurately with large amounts of dataStrong organisational skills, with good time managementStrong IT skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
