Our client is looking for a Project Manager - Highways to provide leadership support within the Project Delivery Highways Service team to ensure the effective delivery of projects that improve the transport infrastructure network.

Project Manager - Highways
Duration: 12 Months initially
Rate: £450 per day via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35)
Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working Arrangement (1 day per week in Cambridgeshire)

Responsibilities:

Provide advice to those within Place & Economy on highway engineering, project and programme management, procurement, community engagement and delivery of the improvements of the transport infrastructure networkProvide and prepare detailed technical reports in a timely and efficient manner ensuring at all times clarity, engagement with stakeholders, and clear requirements of project details, timings and delivery requirementsDirect, guide and manage project delivery to ensure that objectives are delivered for the project to a high quality, forecast delivery times and budget targetsLead on key aspects of project expertise within the Project Delivery Highways Service for commissioned projects in order to ensure the highest level of knowledge, experience and expertise are used in resolving issues and enquiriesManage the technical approval of Project Delivery Highway Service projects taking account of detailed design, procurement, programme, and customer consultationDevelop efficient and effective processes for the review of projects, reporting progress, risk, actual and forecast cost and target completion to the Programme BoardImplement robust programmes for all projects, with appropriate change control processes and utilising suitable project management software packages to manage programme delivery, such as MS Project/Asta

Skills and Experience:

Must have HNC or equivalent level 4 qualification in Project management or civil engineering related disciplineMust have at least 5yrs experience working in Highways & Transport in a similar role within major maintenanceMust have significant project management experience in a client role in a large public sector organisationMust be able to drive and have access to a vehicle for site visits, as well as managing contractors delivering on behalf of othersNeeds to have considerable experience working for a public sector organisation and communicating proactively with stakeholdersNeeds to have considerable experience using project management software, either ASTA or MS Project and computer literate across Microsoft software packagesMust have considerable experience managing design consultants, packages of work, contractors, NEC contracts and costs to fit within set budgets
