About the Role

As a pivotal member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support within a dynamic office environment, particularly within the context of HE or similarly complex organizations. Your role will encompass a diverse tasks, including but not limited to human resources administration, with a focus on recruitment and onboarding processes, as well as ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. Your proficiency with databases and spreadsheets will be instrumental in managing our operations.

Furthermore, your expertise in note-taking, meeting servicing, and event management assistance will contribute to the smooth functioning of our organization. You will be relied upon for your ability to work independently, utilizing your initiative to plan and prioritize tasks effectively, while also collaborating seamlessly with colleagues to achieve our collective objectives.

About You

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record in administrative roles, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and proficiency. Your familiarity with HR practices, recruitment laws, and right-to-work requirements, or your willingness to swiftly acquire this knowledge, will be invaluable. Your communication skills will be essential for conveying information accurately and effectively within our team and to external stakeholders.

About the School

SEMS has approximately 100 academic staff, 45 administrative and technical staff and 45 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1800 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. The staff and student body are international in make-up.

The School of Engineering & Materials Science holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Charter for Women in Science and is a registered member of WISE.
