St Philip's School is excited to announce the development of our South Uist services and Beechwood Flats. These flats have been designed for children and young people in adolescence to support them with school transitions, transitions into adulthood and independent living. This pathway plan has been designed to assist children and young people to develop their life skills alongside education, work and achieving the best outcomes for all. This development provides an exciting opportunity for a social worker to become part of this evolving and innovative team.

The successful candidate will:

Be motivated and enthused and be adaptable to a fast-paced working environment. Individuals should be caring whilst remaining tough minded in their approach.

Ideally have experience of working with children, young people or adults with complex care needs and additional support needs.

Have an understanding of taking a person-centred and trauma informed approach to care planning and an understanding of positive behavioural support for individuals.

Have an ability to undertake robust assessments and care planning which will enable you to update care plans to ensure the outcomes of the 12 individuals are being met. As well as having the flexibility and skills to respond to changing needs of individuals.

Be able to demonstrate experience of multi-disciplinary working with various stakeholders throughout the organisation

Be competent in the use of information technology and information management systems.

Be able to work effectively within a team, as well as independently

Deliver focused interventions to safeguard children and young people and promote positive outcomes for all.

Possess good organisational skills and strong communication skills including excellent verbal and written skills are essential.

Provide the social work contribution to any review of the needs of children and young people, including recommendations on behalf of the Council to Children's Hearings and Courts.

Provide written reports and records as required.

Any other appropriate duties as requested by management, commensurate with the post.

Requirements for role:

BA Social Work qualification or equivalent Dip SW, CQSW and SSSC registration.

Relevant/Transferable experience in children's and families social work or justice.

Have knowledge of National and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post e.g. the Promise, GIRFEC

An ability to work within professional boundaries.

Have knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment, child development, systemic support, relationship-based approach, and the impact of trauma

An ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of children and young people.

Must hold a current UK driving licence and own personal transport as this post requires you to travel to St Philip's School services and meetings as required.

Additional Information

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children or protected adults.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with St Philip's School, the cost of which will be met by you.
