Summary / Role Purpose

ANSYS empowers the world's most innovative companies to design and deliver transformational products by offering the best and broadest engineering simulation software to solve the most complex design challenges This starts by helping academics and students embed the software tools in their practice or learning journey, to develop the next generation of engineers.

As a work experience student in the Ansys academic program, you will work on a variety of impactful projects supporting the Academic Development team. Attached to the office of the CTO, the academic development team utilizes the latest Ansys software technology to help educators teach fundamental and applied topics of engineering education.

As part of the role, you will assist with the development of education resources and potentially a biomedical teaching app, using Ansys LS Dyna or Ansys Fluent or Ansys HFSS and the Ansys python scripting environment, PyAnsys. The topics range from structures, fluid dynamics, electronics and even materials. The resources are published on the Ansys Innovation space.

Furthermore, you will be able to learn about teaching pedagogy and requirements for educational content to design successful User Experience in digital context.

This placement in industry is a full time year in industry paid position which should be 9 to 12 months, starting ideally in September 2024. This role works in collaboration with a team of expert professionals to accomplish team's goals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research and development of relevant case studies, lecture units for undergraduate engineering teaching courses, using Ansys software.
  • Create slides, demos and scripts educators will use in teaching with Ansys software and simulation files to embed in educational resources.
  • Support the development of a biomedical teaching app with Python and Ansys tools.
  • Present at every stages of project progress, internally to stakeholder groups and externality to future users for feedback
  • Do curriculum mapping to understand how to bridge the gap between academia and industry

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering electrical engineering or related technical field
  • Interest in healthcare
  • Experience with using simulation software
  • Good knowledge in general engineering concepts, and an awareness of biomedical related courses is a plus.
  • Experience with programming in Python and/or in using Python script libraries in projects
  • Sharp and tenacious problem-solving skills
  • Team player, responsible and self-motivated

Preferred Education/Certification requirements and experience

  • Experience in using one or multiple Ansys simulation software
  • Basic application user interface experience (HTML, Javascript, ploty Dash)
