The Company
Our client is a market leading, forward thinking, technical contractor with over 20 years within the construction industry; as a business they have an extensive portfolio and order book generating a multi-million-pound turnover. They deliver an array of industrial and logistics developments worldwide and continue to up-hold a strong sense of social responsibility through their innovative construction techniques and policies.
The Project
As a highly experienced Sustainability Manager, you will play a crucial role as part of the wider environmental & sustainability team based on a 50m new build industrial development located in East Yorkshire. Your responsibilities include integrating environmental and sustainability considerations into all project phases and creating and enforcing policies across the business. By preparing and presenting comprehensive reports on environmental performance, you will ensure that the development adheres to regulatory requirements and drives the organisations delivery of carbon reduction and desire of sustainable construction.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you hold the experience below;
- Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a similar position for a leading contractor or subcontractor
- Proven experience of working on projects within the industrial sector is highly desirable however all candidates with a demonstrated history of working in an Environmental & Sustainability Manager position with a reputable contractor are of interest

- In-depth understanding of relevant environmental laws, regulations, and standards
- Efficient utilisation of tools and software for environmental monitoring and data management
- Strong ability to develop and implement environmental and sustainability plans and programs
- Proficient in analysing environmental data and performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement

Duties
- Plan and direct sustainability initiatives to foster eco-friendly practices
- Promote waste reduction, recycling, and reuse initiatives within the organisation
- Prepare and file required environmental reports and documentation with regulatory authorities
- Monitor and oversee the organisation complies to local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Establish and evaluate sustainability goals and targets, ensuring they are aligned with the overall strategy
- Collect, analyse, and report on environmental data to track performance and identify areas for improvement
- Design and execute strategies for efficient utilization of resources, including energy, water, and raw materials
- Develop partnerships with external stakeholders to advance sustainability initiatives and share best practices
- Develop and enforce environmental and sustainability policies, aligning with the goals and regulatory standards
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and operations to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Consistently monitor the environmental impact of the organisation's activities and implement corrective actions as necessary
- Collaborate with various departments to incorporate environmental and sustainability considerations into all aspects of the organisation's operations
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of environmental and sustainability programs and initiatives, implementing improvements as needed
- Prepare and deliver sustainability reports that highlight the organisation's environmental performance and progress towards achieving sustainability objectives
- Communicate sustainability initiatives and accomplishments with stakeholders, including employees, clients, and the community
- Design and implement programs to increase awareness of environmental issues and encourage sustainable practices within the organisation
- Create efficient long-term strategies for ongoing enhancement of environmental performance and sustainability
- Manage environmental and sustainability projects, ensuring they are finished on schedule, within budget, and achieve their intended objectives
