Working in collaboration with colleagues internally and externally, our growing Communications team (part of our Marketing and Student Services team) strives to tell our story and build our reputation, across a range of audiences and channels and in line with our new identity and brand.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Social Media Manager who is a great story teller and has successfully created and executed social media strategies to engage a range of audiences in a relatively complex organisation. You will create a social media strategy for the University of Hull, and lead a small team to deliver this strategy. You will build relationships with colleagues across the institution to understand their work and advise on how to best engage target audiences digitally. You will develop and embed social media policies and guidelines and use social media to gather intelligence that is relevant to the University, and advise on how and when we should be engaging.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver a social media strategy for the University, to engage relevant audiences, build advocacy, encourage two-way communication, and tell our institutional story, in line with the University's new identity and brand. Provide recommendations on how use social media tools and techniques to best support institutional objectives, including supporting student recruitment activity and raising the University's research profile, make the most of opportunities and manage risk in the most effective and efficient way possible.
  • Lead coach and develop a social media team to deliver best practice and demonstrate impact. This includes setting and monitoring objectives, holding annual appraisals and mid-point reviews, providing regular support, feedback and input via one-to-one sessions and ensuring the team benefit from ongoing professional development, through self-learning and training programmes and engagement with peers in other institutions.
