We are looking to recruit a Waste and Street Scene Locality Manager to Manage our Locality depot based in Harrogate, this is an essential role for future success of the waste and street scene service.

Our Service:

The Waste and Street Scene (W&SS) Service unit is responsible for the 'front line' delivery of the waste collection and street scene services in North Yorkshire. The service is delivered via locally based depots working alongside a central waste contracts team.

The Role:

As our Waste and Street Scene Locality Manager Harrogate Depot, you will have extensive Knowledge and experience of managing a depot and Waste and Street Scene operational services, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful local delivery of the Waste and Street Scene service, ensuring that the local delivery is effective, professional, and efficient and in accordance with current legislation.

You will manage a dedicated team of Operations Officers at one or more depots, in turn supporting the efficient and effective deployment of staff, vehicles, supplies and other resources.

You will be:

· Responsible for co-ordination, planning and day to day management of the services under your control, with day-to-day responsibility for associated budgets, staff, vehicles, plant and equipment and all health and safety matters.

· Have day to day oversight of other services at the locality, usually being the most senior manager on site. This includes services such as fleet, workshops, parks and grounds and enforcement staff.

· Lead a small team of Operations Officers to help ensure they adequately resource local day to day waste and street scene operations to ensure efficient service delivery. · Lead and support on significant future service changes

· Manage the effective and efficient operation and delivery of all local waste and street scene services to achieve the Council's aims and objectives in accordance with statutory legislation.

· Advising the Council in consultation with the Area Manager and Head of Service on all local relevant waste and street scene issues, and devise solutions to local issues in line with the wider ways of working.

· Effectively performance manage, develop, coach, and motivate staff within the local service area.

· Undertake monitoring.

· Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all services.

What you will bring...

To be successful you will have significant knowledge of current good practice standards in relation to Waste and Street Scene services, and in-depth knowledge of statutory requirements in relation to Waste and Street Scene services. Have a proven track record of significant waste and street scene experience, experience of producing performance management information for use by Senior Management and experience of budget management. Excellent communication is key, both written and oral with the ability to positively interact with customers and to understand their needs. You must also have the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with all stakeholders.
