The Opportunity:

We are seeking to appoint two Tutors with Film-Medicine (Film and Health) teaching experience practice, to join a team of teaching staff contributing to learning and teaching at postgraduate level. The successful candidate will assist with teaching, assessment and feedback across three postgraduate courses from the start of the 2024 academic year.

To deliver learning and teaching activities including tuition, informal feedback and formative assessment. Specific learning outcomes will be prescribed as part of the integrated overall structure of courses and to enhance the learning experience of students. A key purpose of the role is to create a stimulating and interactive learning environment where students can further their understanding of Film-Medicine.

The post holders will be based in Film-Medicine within design at Edinburgh College of Art in the University of Edinburgh's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and at Edinburgh Futures Institute.

The role will involve:

  • Delivering tutorials (with associated preparation), seminars and practical workshops on camera, sound, and editing on Adobe Premiere, followed by formative feedback sessions, grading and written assessment.
  • Teaching administration, including mandatory course and team meetings.
  • Student supervision and associated administration
  • Working in collaboration with other staff within Film-Medicine and Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh futures Institute as and when required
  • Undertaking other duties as determined by the Head of subject area

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A practising Film-Medicine tutor with proven experience of film-making in health.
  • Experience with camera, sound, and editing on Adobe Premiere.
  • Ability to work within a team with a collegial attitude, respect and sensitivity toward students and other staff members.
  • Ability to apply professional practice experience from real life situations to enhance student understanding.
  • An enthusiastic, positive and creative approach to teaching.

£32,982 to £38,205 per annum pro-rata for part-time
