Ipswich School Enterprises Ltd
Ipswich School is consistently recognised as Suffolk's top independent school. We were established prior to 1399, and moved to our present site in 1852. We have over 1,080 pupils aged between 3 months and 19 years and are fully co-educational. The most recent Inspection of the Senior School (September 2022) rated us as Excellent in all categories, a judgement of which we are very proud. The School operates a 5 day week, with representative sports played during the week and on Saturdays.
Ipswich School Enterprises (ISE) Ltd is the School's trading company. It is the entity used to generate income from the School's non-educational activities, which currently include; the lettings of school properties/facilities, residential lettings, our annual Easter Revision Course and holiday sports camps.
These activities do not come directly under the umbrella of the School's charitable aims, but they provide an essential income stream to support those aims. In a very competitive market for independent schools, our commercial activities are an increasingly important part of our business model. The income generated is being used to offset the School's running costs and it helps us to keep our school fees at an affordable level for parents.
One of the School's main sources of income generation is from the hire of Ipswich School Sports Centre, in Rushmere St Andrew (see further details on the Sports Centre's website):
You will be an enthusiastic ambassador and advocate for Ipswich School, and bring innovation and commerciality to our trading activities. You will oversee the continued development and evolution of our activities and facilities to generate income to meet Key Performance Indicators.
Key to your success will be the need to proactively identify, develop and implement new revenue and profit streams for the School, whilst managing and nurturing existing relationships with the school community, regular users of school facilities, and community groups and associations. Most importantly you will ensure our customers' needs are met whilst ensuring that planning and development for our lettings (sporting and non-sporting) remains consistent with the School's charitable, educational and community involvement objectives.
You will need to have the ability to drive income generation activities, and develop long term plans for the future development of ISE. You must also have good commercial awareness, and experience in budgeting, hitting business targets and reviewing progress against objectives. An appreciation of the School's charitable, educational and community aims and objectives is also essential.
Working Hours
Working patterns can be discussed with shortlisted candidates at interview. The total working hours will be 40 hours per week to be worked throughout the year. Flexibility with working hours will be required in this role as the Sports Centre, and other ISE facilities, are open in the evenings and weekends throughout the year and they need to be staffed appropriately to ensure safety is maintained for users and staff.
Salary and Benefits
The starting salary for this post is £35,000 per annum, with the opportunity to earn significant, tiered, performance-related remuneration if agreed KPIs are met. You will be entitled to 25 working days' paid holiday per year, plus public holidays, rising to 30 days plus bank holidays after 5 years' service. If there are pupil vacancies and you have a child or children who are eligible to attend the School who have satisfied the entry criteria as set out in the School's Admissions Policy, and have been awarded a place, you could be entitled to generous fee remission (currently 50%). This potential benefit can be discussed further with shortlisted candidates at interview. You will join our defined contribution pension scheme, with 10% employer contributions and 3x death in service cover.You will have access to AIG Smarthealth, an employee wellbeing app with 24/7 GP access and mental health support.
