Service Desk EngineerLocation: Preston (office based)We’re looking for a Service Desk Engineer to join our team in Preston. You’ll work with modern Microsoft cloud platforms, support a broad mix of SME clients, and play a key part in delivering the Techn22 service experience. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of issues, and wants to build strong skills across the Modern Workplace stack.You’ll work on site in our Preston office. Hours follow a rotating shift pattern between 8am and 6pm. Once you pass probation, you’ll also join our out-of-hours rota covering 7am to 8am and 6pm to 10pm, roughly one week in five. A full UK driving licence is required.Key ResponsibilitiesYou’ll handle a wide range of technical work, including:User and Device SupportResolve 2nd line tickets through Halo PSATroubleshoot Windows 11, macOS, mobile devices and hardwareManage onboarding and offboardingSet up and deploy devices using Autopilot and IntuneProvide clear, calm and friendly user supportMicrosoft 365 & Azure AdministrationSupport day-to-day M365 admin including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and permissionsConfigure and maintain Intune, Conditional Access, compliance policies and MAM/MDMWork with Azure basics including AVD, identity management and securitySecurity & ComplianceSupport Defender suite alerts and investigationsAssist with Cyber Essentials activityFollow internal security processes and contribute to improvementsNetworking & InfrastructureTroubleshoot switches, Wi-Fi, firewall basics and connectivity issuesSupport AVD environments and remote access setupsDocumentation & WorkflowKeep tickets, assets and notes up to date in Halo PSAContribute to internal knowledge baseFlag recurring issues and suggest improvementsClient Work & ProjectsJoin customer visits when neededTake part in project delivery tasks across M365, Azure, AVD and device refreshesSkills and ExperienceEssentialAt least 1 year working in IT supportConfident with Microsoft 365 administrationWorking knowledge of Intune, Azure basics, AVD and Conditional AccessStrong grasp of Windows 11Good understanding of networking principlesExperience with Defender for EndpointSome PowerShell competenceAbility to support SharePoint and Teams issuesClear communication skills, written and verbalAble to break down problems logically and work through them calmlyHow You WorkWe’re a close, friendly team, so we’re looking for someone who is:ApproachableProactive and happy to get stuck inA clear and confident communicatorSteady under pressure when dealing with clientsSomeone who owns problems until they’re sortedCurious and willing to learn new techComfortable in a small, supportive team environmentBenefitsTraining budget for Microsoft certificationsCompany pension22 days holiday plus bank holidays plus your birthday offRegular team socialsOut-of-hours allowance (once on the rota)Free parkingSupportive environment focused on growth and progression
