What you'll be doing;


  • Overall responsibility of the Ellesmere Port top-tier COMAH site.
  • Leading the site team to deliver the overall performance objectives for Hazardous Waste including financial, production, plant availability, safety and compliance.
  • Developing and supporting the site management team to help them reach their pull potential.
  • Strategically supporting innovation opportunities to improve performance.
  • Be part of the senior leadership team and input to the overall Hazardous Waste strategy.
  • Lead by example and support the site management teams to show, promote and acknowledge positive behaviours
  • Ensuring sufficient resources are in place to operate safely and to optimal performance.
  • Working closely with Plant/Facility Managers to deliver robust engineering solutions.
  • Knowledge of functional safety / protected electrical equipment as required by role
  • Supporting site management in abnormal and emergency situations i.e. troubleshooting, breakdowns.
  • Working closely with the management teams to develop and apply the strategy for the services and identify opportunities for improved performance.
  • Providing strategic technical oversight whilst facilitating a close and joined up working relationship between the operational and commercial teams within the business.
  • Manage the Hazardous Waste activities environmental permit requirements, relevant ISO standards and any other relevant standard (i.e. COMAH).
  • Ensuring CAPEX annual budget process is delivered whilst tracking spend, forecasting and project reviews are in place.
  • Ensuring agreed operational targets are achieved in respect of Risk and Assurance performance, asset availability and reliability.
  • Support site management on regulatory body intervention visits, audits and specific topic campaign audits.


What we're looking for;


  • Experience in leading and developing operational teams.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of top-tier COMAH sites.
  • Financial reporting to guide business performance, cost control, pricing strategies and preparation of £70m budgets.
  • Business Modeling to identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement, operational efficiencies and cost-saving solutions via detailed business cases and potential investment committee presentation.
  • Experience in producing business reports to report on facility/asset performance including budgets, CAPEX, plant availability and project progress (including outages).
  • Risk management experience to track leading and lagging safety indicators, track regulatory body actions, monitor tends and provide means of engaging with workforce.
  • Experience of driving growth, compliance and profit.
  • Internal and external stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Chemical engineering or Chemistry background is essential.
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Knowledge of external guidance documents such as BREF, Appropriate Measures: Chemical Wastes and various other publications on HSE, EA and trade association websites to ensure legislative compliance and predict legislative changes that may impact on the business unit.
