The role

Our exceptional intellectual property team is seeking an experienced Trade Mark Paralegal to join its London office.


Working under the supervision of an experienced Trade Mark Formalities Manager, you will be involved in the day-to-day administration activities of Wiggin's vibrant and busy trade mark and designs practice, supporting qualified IP lawyers.


Your work will include:

  • Preparing and filing EU, Benelux, UK, overseas and IR trade mark and design applications, renewals and recordals.
  • Dealing with local counsel in relation to filing overseas trade mark applications and renewals
  • Deadline and diary management
  • Filing correspondence and forms at the EUIPO, BOIP, WIPO and UKIPO
  • Checking, processing and reporting incoming post and EUIPO e-comms to the team.
  • Updating our trade mark portfolio management databases (WebTMS).
  • Reporting standard prosecution to clients and liaising with clients on formalities matters.
  • Assisting with preparation of fee estimates for filing programs.
  • Other ad hoc duties as and when required depending on level of experience.


You will be working closely with our teams in London and Brussels and this role will require occasional travel to the Brussels office.


About you

You will have at least 2 years' of trade mark administration experience and be familiar with the EUIPO, UKIPO, BOIP and WIPO online registries. You will have a good working knowledge of trade mark and design portfolio management databases.


You must be fully fluent in English. French and/or Dutch language skills are desirable.


You will understand that this work involves working to strict deadlines with no room for error. The team is busy so you must be diligent and extremely organised. You will also have excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic.



The team

Our intellectual property team is widely regarded as market leading in the UK and Belgium. We provide a one-stop-shop 360˚ IP service (with the exception only of patent filing), advising on the full spectrum of legal issues connected to all IP rights, with a fast-growing integrated trade mark and design portfolio practice, busy litigation practice, and significant commercial work.


Our trade mark and design portfolio management and strategy practice advises on all aspects of trade mark and brand protection across the entire brand life-cycle. We regularly advise household names, particularly in the media, entertainment and technology sectors, providing strategic trade mark advice, enabling clients to generate, preserve, exploit, enforce and defend their brands, including in an international context.


We act for clients with portfolios of scale, and work on a client team basis, with Brussels and UK based team members working closely together to provide a seamless service to our clients handling all their EUIPO, BOIP, UKIPO and WIPO work directly, and managing their international work beyond.


The team is Gold tier in the UK by World Trade Mark Review. Our comparatively newer Brussels office is already ranked Silver and we are looking to achieve Gold.
