Application Support Engineer - Clearing Systems - Unix/SQL. MillerMaxwell is assisting a dynamic and innovative organisation, dedicated to providing top-notch services and solutions in the financial sector. We are seeking a talented 2nd Level application support engineer to join a team and contribute to the success of post execution services.


Role Overview:

As a 2nd Level Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of clearing system applications. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, supporting daily procedures, and handling user requests. This role requires strong technical skills in UNIX/Linux, SQL, and relational databases, as well as excellent communication and analytical abilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced support for Clearing System production applications, including hands-on troubleshooting using UNIX and SQL techniques.
  • Perform daily support tasks to ensure the Clearing System operates smoothly.
  • Respond to user requests, run ad hoc queries, and generate reports as needed.
  • Review audit trails and ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including procedures, implementation instructions, and incident reports using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises, application releases, and third-party software upgrades.
  • Develop UNIX and SQL scripts for reporting and reconciliation processes.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux, including scripting, file editing, system resource monitoring, and process management.
  • Ability to write and execute Transact-SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, preferably Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Experience with source code control and release management processes.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Autosys or crontab.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
