Summary:
A leading UK university is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Category Manager to join their procurement team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with the university's overall procurement objectives.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation, and value enhancement.
- Manage supplier relationships, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
- Lead sourcing events, such as tenders and RFIs, to select the most suitable suppliers based on quality, price, and service.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to understand their needs and ensure that procurement activities meet their requirements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Category Manager or Procurement Specialist in a higher education or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
