Job Role  

The Theatre Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of safe, effective patient care within the theatre department, in line with business needs. The role involves overseeing the clinical and non-clinical theatre teams, providing leadership, ensuring the achievement of HIS standards, and coordinating staffing, equipment, and stock. You will be responsible for fostering a supportive and efficient working environment, ensuring the team’s professional development, and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Qualifications  

- NMC/HCPC Registration  

- 2–5 years' experience in theatre management  

- Experience in cosmetics and aesthetics is advantageous

Hours of Work  

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (flexible as per service needs)

Key Responsibilities


- Lead the theatre team in delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.

- Develop clinical competence and enhance the skills of the team.

- Ensure patient safety and advocate for safeguarding in the theatre.

- Oversee the planning and delivery of quality care in line with HIS and AfPP standards.

- Maintain cost-effective, efficient theatre services, including budget and staffing management.

- Ensure compliance with all theatre safety protocols and NHS safety standards, including surgical safety checks.

- Manage departmental performance, including staff utilisation, training, and appraisal.

- Participate in clinical governance, including audits and quality assurance processes.

- Contribute to the development of clinical frameworks and policies.

- Monitor compliance with infection prevention and control standards.

- Ensure continuous professional development for staff, maintaining mandatory training requirements.

- Manage annual leave and rotas to ensure adequate staff cover.

Managerial Responsibilities


- Recruit, manage, and retain qualified theatre staff.

- Oversee staff induction, performance reviews, and training needs.

- Promote a positive, professional work culture and high standards of service.

- Handle disciplinary actions and grievances when necessary.

- Review staffing levels and ensure efficient resource deployment.

- Assist with budget management and cost optimisation.

- Lead customer service initiatives and resolve patient and consultant complaints.

Financial & Risk Management  

- Meet or exceed budgetary and performance targets.

- Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.

- Ensure that all staff adhere to infection control and fire safety protocols.

Communication & Governance  

- Lead regular team meetings and cascade information from senior management.

- Ensure patient needs are at the core of the service delivery.

- Participate in hospital governance activities and maintain accurate documentation.
