The job

The R&D Manager is a leadership role overseeing the front-end, back-end and cloud development teams, reporting directly to the R&D Director. It requires strong people management skills as the overall team consists of over 100 people across Europe and APAC, including a small team of direct reports. Your role is to establish a strong and efficient R&D team. With your guidance, our engineering teams deliver a product with high end performance and reaching the highest quality standards of IT industry.


Key responsibilities


Team Management

  • Lead and manage software development teams, providing guidance, performance goals and support to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Select and manage team members, assign tasks, and set priorities to optimize team performance and productivity.
  • Nurture a culture of ownership and accountability, in which team members take responsibility for the quality and reliability of the software they develop and support.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the development teams to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Ensure that team members are familiar with cybersecurity principles and practices, including secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Collaborate and seek guidance from the R&D governance team regarding cloud and application architecture.
  • Collaborate, coordinate and communicate technical requirements with the shared services and the other relevant team verticals.


Technical Leadership

  • Develop and implement agile methodologies and best practices to streamline development processes and improve team efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and other departments to prioritize and plan development initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
  • Define, document and ensure compliance with coding standards, architectural principle, quality standards and security protocols in all phases of software development.
  • Monitor and optimize development processes in the relevant environments (development, QA, etc.) to ensure they are cost-effective and efficient, minimizing the risk of errors and downtime.
  • Ensure a healthy balance of product innovation, maintenance and technical debts.
  • Drive the vision, design, and architecture of integrated web systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Ensure the availability of technical specifications and detailed design documentation for cloud and application architecture, communicating technical information to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Identify and solve technical problems at a high level, employing analytical and problem-solving skills to devise creative solutions to complex software engineering challenges.
  • Oversee developer testing to ensure that software is functioning as expected, delivering software that meets user requirements quality- and industry standards.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously innovate and enhance our software products.
  • Select and implement systems, tooling and methodologies.


Ideal experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience (at least 5 years) in intercultural software development teams.
  • Solid technical background with expertise in frontend, backend, and cloud technologies.
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies, software development lifecycle, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, focusing on delivering high-quality software products on time and within budget.
  • Adaptable and forward-thinking, with a passion for staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
