About the opportunity


They are now looking to recruit a Plant Manager (Designate) who will be responsible for organising and managing all site activities. The successful candidate will lead the daily plant management in full compliance with local regulations, budgets, cost control and internal policies to realise safe and steady operations, operational excellence and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with the current Plant Manager to comply with the contractual requirements and service agreements. This position contributes to strategic goals, annual objectives, investments and related initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Strive for an ethos of zero accidents on site
  • Awareness that the full responsibility of QESH activities and results rests here
  • Ensure license requirements are always met with emissions, within limits
  • Manage quality assurance system at the plant
  • Take the necessary measures and actions to guarantee continuous operation, ensure availability of the installations and costs within budget
  • Ensure high maintenance standards
  • Plan and run shutdowns efficiently within timescales and budgets
  • Develop and implement actions that lead to continuous improvements to be able to comply with the changing requirements in the areas of safety, environment, quality, customers and costs.
  • Prepare budgets for all operations for approval and follow- up to meet the targets
  • Cost control and monitoring of profitability
  • Ensure the plant is adequately staffed with the right people, competent and trained to fulfil their roles
  • Ensure teams are developed and motivated to continuously improve
  • Operate a performance management and fair reward system for all staff in line with company guidelines
  • Demonstrate consistent and fair leadership
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, managing customer experience at the plant
  • Manage the contracts for the provision of consumables and raw materials
  • Manage the smooth disposal of residues from the plant in conjunction with the Commercial Department
  • Maintain good relationships with communities, authorities, regulators and competitors
  • Maintain a broad network across the organisation through proactive interaction with other managers and peers.
  • Steer and coach the management team to get the best out of people, systems, facilities, abilities and opportunities.
  • Liaise with authorities, suppliers, competitors, regulators, local communities, customers and internal contacts such as SEPA, Local Authority, HSE etc.
  • Work closely with Sales, Safety, Finance and HR departments.



To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Mining), Additional degree in Business Management, Masters or equivalent experience,
  • More than 5 years of industrial managerial experience, preferably in waste management, power generation, mining, steam plant or petrochemicals
  • Experience with safety and environmental management systems
  • Experience with broad people management in an industrial context
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Environmental legislation and policy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software and SAP
