Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will support the Directors of Research &| Innovation and Education in leading the delivery of the integrated research and education strategy, ensuring the delivery of effective assurance reporting to the Directors or Research and Innovation, and Education.
The key areas of responsibility include:
• Coordinate delivery of the divisional supporting strategies aligned with the Trust Strategic Plan (23-28)
• Support the delivery of the Trust's elements of Manchester Cancer Research Centre strategy for integrated research and education in collaboration with partners from the University of Manchester and CRUK (plans formulated for minimum of 12 months)
• Coordinate and support the submission of strategic funding bids
• Support the delivery of relevant integrated research and education aspects of the Christie International programme.
• Deputise as required for the Directors of Research & Innovation and Education.
The delivery of the Trust's Strategic Plan will require the Associate Director to lead on the engaging multiple strategic partners and the coordination of complex strategically significant business developments.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- First degree
- Post graduate qualification or equivalent level of experience
- Masters Degree or equivalent professional, vocational qualification and good knowledge of programme management practice supported by evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Continuing professional development
- Service improvement/ project management qualification
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Experience in a large NHS or private healthcare organisation working on projects that involved clinical staff and operational change; or organisations with similar characteristics.
- Experience of successful direct and matrix management of several staff from own and supplier departments or organisations, including appraisal, coaching and the application of related personnel policies
- Experience of delivering projects in a major programme.
- Budget management and budget setting, including allocation of delegated budgets
- Experience of successful academic grant funding bids
- Experience of working outside the UK with international agencies and/or partners
Desirable criteria
- Experience of running strategic planning workshops
- Experience of cross-sector working in academia and education
