About the team or project:

This post is for a Research Associate (full-time) who will be based in the Department of Social Care and Social Work at Manchester Metropolitan University and will be a member of the Learning Disability and Autism Research Group. The Research Associate will take a key role in the delivery of the research project: 'Digital Lifeline to Digital Life: A follow up study exploring the impact of the Digital Lifeline Fund and the distribution of new digital devices during the Covid-19 pandemic on the lives of people with learning disabilities'. The project is being led by Manchester Metropolitan University (Dr Sue Caton and Professor Chris Hatton) in partnership with the Association for Real Change and the Good Things Foundation. You will work collaboratively with the research team to ensure successful delivery of the project objectives.

About the role:

The main purpose of the role will be to work as a member of the team to support the delivery of the research project. The Research Associate will be expected to undertake collaborative research work involving the collection of research data through a variety of research methods, including an online survey and participatory workshops. It will also involve contributing to the development of reports and other outputs.

About the candidate:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and proactive researcher who ideally has experience of carrying out research with people with learning disabilities. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate ownership of your personal workload. Strong administrative skills will be necessary for this post and an ability and willingness to occasionally travel throughout England.

As we develop our learning disability and autism research group in the Faculty of Health and Education, we are seeking candidates who support our approach to research working respectfully with people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and their families with a commitment to social justice.
