Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Drainage Designer to join
our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of
professional experience in designing, planning, and implementing drainage systems
for various projects including residential, commercial, and public infrastructure. The
Drainage Designer will play a critical role in ensuring our projects meet
regulatory standards, environmental guidelines, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities as a Drainage Designer:
* Design and Planning: Develop comprehensive drainage designs using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage,Causeway Flow).
* Create detailed plans and specifications for stormwater management systems, including detention/retention basins, swales, culverts, and storm sewers.
* Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints. Coordinate with project managers, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate drainage solutions into overall project plans.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all drainage designs comply with local authority and LLFA guidelines. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for approvals. Stay updated on changes in drainage and environmental regulations.
* Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand project requirements, present design concepts, and address any concerns or questions. Maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
* Problem Solving: Identify and resolve complex drainage issues during both the design and construction phases. Develop innovative solutions to meet challenging project requirements.
* Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, design documents, and project documentation. Ensure all project records are maintained accurately and are easily accessible.
Qualifications as a Drainage Designer:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in drainage design and stormwater management.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, or similar design software. Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools.
* Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of drainage design principles, stormwater management practices, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and green infrastructure practices is a plus.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
* Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Capable of conducting thorough analyses and developing effective design solutions.
* Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide mentorship to junior staff.
* Project Management: Proven track record of managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining budgets.
Work Environment:
* Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office
* Standard working hours with flexibility for project demands.
