The Head of Quality and Registry leads and manages all aspects of registry, academic quality and higher education compliance for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses delivered through London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS). This role leads the expert provision and central coordination of organisation-wide academic services within The Place as an independent Higher Education provider registered with the Office for Students.
The role provides leadership within The Place on registry activities and associated reporting, as well as supports the evaluation of access and participation, teaching excellence and educational gains activities in collaboration with senior management. The role is a key developer and advocate of student-related policy and procedures, focusing on both internal strategic development needs and the external obligations associated with being an organisation in receipt of public funding.
The Head of Registry and Quality leads on the efficient development and operation of academic quality assurance and enhancement systems, ensuring compliance with The Place procedures and the regulations and procedures of, and validation agreements with, its validating universities.
SALARY & CONTRACT TERMS
Salaries are reviewed in August each year when any cost-of-living increases are made. CONTRACT TERMS This is a 12-month fixed-term, maternity covercontract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week).These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. We anticipate that interviews will be conducted during the week commencing 01Jul 2024either in person at The Place or remotely via Microsoft Teams (or similar platform as necessary).
Knowledge and experience of AcademicQuality, Validation and Monitoring, andRegistry functions.
Educated to degree level, equivalent furthereducation training, or relevant professionalexperience.
Broad, proven expertise in higher educationquality management, including course validation, complaints procedures, and workwith external partners such as the Office for StudentsandQuality Assurance Agency.
Understanding and appreciation of Contemporary Dance in a higher education setting.

A postgraduate higher education management qualification or equivalent professional recognition/attainment (e.g. Experience of higher education leadership, including planning.
A track record in registry and quality systems, some of which will be world-leading/
Lead the design and delivery of excellent academic registry services across the student lifecycle from recruitment to graduation and alumni benchmarked against best practice in service delivery.

With the School Office/Registry and Quality Team, oversee the Student Records System in collaboration with support from IT.
Administrate and oversee the provision of student-related records management systems and reporting, including the management of registration and computerised records of all students (CRM).
Support student data management and statistics, and external reporting (e.g., Annual Programme Monitoring Report – consolidate academic and student support input.
Formal assessment arrangements (Award degree certificates through school office administration, and provide the student-related aspects of graduation ceremonies).
Data and analysis, for example on Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO).
In close collaboration with the relevant faculty staff and stakeholders involved in all aspects of student experience, support the development, oversight and implementation of the suite of support policies and ensure compliance with academic regulatory frameworks.

Advise on new programmes/units, academic frameworks.
Monitor and safeguard academic standards.
Investigate student complaints and their resolution as appropriate
Support the design and implementation of our quality management and enhancement initiatives to support a risk management approach, including oversight of all QAA and professional statutory and regulatory body related activities.

Prepare organisational frameworks and systems to meet new sector requirements (SLC, HESA Data Futures, Annual Provider Review, TEF).
Support effective governance through servicing the information requirements and the needs of committee-based decision-making, including servicing Academic Board with data and reporting to meet their needs.
Manage the registry and quality resources and services. This includes setting KPIs and performance feedback and monitoring. Initiate and implement ways of improving efficiency and effectiveness across registry and quality services to engender a culture of good practice and continuous improvement.
Lead on the evaluation of all aspects of registry services to provide insight and inform planning and service improvements.

QUALITY
Implement the policy review schedule alongside the Head of Governance, and facilitate the development of new policies through the LCDS and The Place committee structure.
OfS publications and guidance, QAA UK Quality Code for Higher Education, quality handbooks and procedures of the School’s validating universities).
Develop risk-based approaches where needed and working towards agreed mitigating actions recorded on risk register
Be a key member of the School’s Senior Management Team, who assists the Directors in setting the agenda.
Facilitate regular discussion at Senior Management Team about progress against the action plans.
Service and prepare papers for, and act as secretary to the Academic Board, with due regard to the need to maintain confidentiality, and recognise the sensitivity of agenda items and discussions.
Lead on student complaints and appeals with the assistance of the Quality and Compliance Coordinator.

Ensure relevant training is in place for School Office staff and faculty to effectively direct students to relevant complaints and appeals procedures.
Liaise with validating universities about complaints and appeals as required.
Manage the schools’ complaints process, including supporting both staff and students during complaints processes.
DATA AND COMPLIANCE

Keep up to date with regulations relating to Office for Students, and ensure conditions of registration continue to be met, particularly in relation to Quality (B conditions) and Information for Students (F conditions).
Alongside the Student Finance and Data Officer, prepare and submit timely and accurate information for the Student Data return.
Submit accurate information as necessary for statutory returns for the Office for Students and HESA, including Graduate Outcomes Survey, Unistats and the National Student Survey.
Add the courses onto the Course Management System for Student Loans Company.
Undertake an annual CMA compliance audit and report the findings to the Senior Management Team.
Support the Directors in maintaining an overview of income and expenditure over the course of the financial year.
Support the Quality and Compliance Coordinator to ensure that casual teaching staff, external guest teachers and freelance artists are recruited and contracted in accordance with The Place’s policies and procedures.
Process monthly timesheets for payroll for guest teaching staff.
Convene weekly Admin meetings to ensure sufficient School Office coverage, smooth running of planned activities, and to foster effective communication within the team
Contribute effectively to other School Office activities in times of high demand, and cover planned and unplanned absences by prioritising workload and demonstrating flexibility
Answering telephones, deal with enquiries, welcome visitors, conduct tours, and providegeneral student and staff administration.
Any other activities as reasonably requested by the Director of Dance Studies.
