SEN Play Therapist Assistant Primary School Rayleigh

A welcoming primary school in Rayleigh is seeking a dedicated SEN Play Therapist Assistant to support therapeutic play sessions for students facing emotional and developmental challenges. In this fulltime permanent role you will play a crucial part in facilitating therapeutic activities that help students express themselves develop social skills and build emotional resilience through play.

Role Highlights

  • Fulltime position focused on supporting therapeutic activities that enhance the emotional and developmental wellbeing of students with special educational needs
  • Collaborate closely with SEN staff and trained play therapists to design and implement engaging playbased interventions tailored to the individual needs of students
  • Provide a safe supportive and encouraging play environment that fosters creativity selfexpression and positive social interactions among students
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of play therapy sessions ensuring that all activities are suitable and aligned with each students therapeutic goals
  • Monitor and document student progress during play sessions providing feedback and insights to SEN staff to inform future interventions and support strategies
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge of play therapy techniques and best practices in supporting students with SEN

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in play therapy child development or special educational needs support is beneficial although candidates with a strong interest in these areas will also be considered
  • A creative and patient approach to playbased learning with the ability to engage students in meaningful and enjoyable therapeutic activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to build trusting relationships with students parents and colleagues
  • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and provide individualized support that encourages personal growth and emotional healing
  • A current and clear Enhanced DBS check is essential to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students
