Braunstone, United Kingdom Candidate Source Limited Full time
As we often say as an introduction to our new roles: why work for one company when you can influence your entire sector for the better?

Our role is a great opportunity for a construction sector technical materials specialist (ideally masonry - concrete products range) looking for their next career move to further develop their experience and skills further in a major Product group for our leading UK Trade Association.

Within the post, you will have the chance to contribute to an essential industry critical to the UK construction and manufacturing sector.

Reporting to, and supported by, our Director responsible for this product area, you will help delivering industry objectives for our Members. As well as supporting our Director generally with those objectives, some of your other core duties will be:
  • To influence codes and standards and develop design and sustainability guidance that enables the specification of concrete and masonry in the UK.
  • Contribute to the outreach and engagement with key stakeholders and influencers on behalf of the concrete and masonry sector.
  • Represent the sector on national committees that review and create standards and regulation.
  • Provide technical support for this major Product Group of our Members, which includes manufacturers of concrete blocks, aircrete blocks, concrete bricks and mortars.
That's just the beginning of the range of duties to keep you busy You certainly won't be short of interesting and varied work in the role. In all of this, you you will form part of a small but highly effective and agile team as well as work closely with our Member companies, central/devolved Government departments and the regulatory agencies.

What are we looking for in you in return?
  • The role requires knowledge of standards and regulation for concrete blocks and aircrete products, and realistically that is likely to mean that you come from a manufacturer and product background, rather than the housing market.
  • An understanding of standards and regulation for housing and masonry structures, together with sound knowledge of masonry construction and the market for construction materials.
  • The ability to research emerging and new technology or technical areas.
  • Capable of representing the masonry sector at a senior level to Government, industry and on national/international committees. Any previous experience of industry committees and/or the development of standards and consensus across multi-disciplined contributors is a definite plus.
  • Finally, a self-starter, who can self manage a workload independently, but also works closely and effectively with colleagues in a very collaborative team environment.
A time for change, and a time to influence your whole sector positively? Please get in touch.
