One year fixed term, with intentions to continue contract subject to funding.
Tiny Changes is Scotland’s first national young people’s mental health charity. Tiny Changes run projects with young leaders that help young minds feel better. The charity was set up in memory of artist and Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison. Through his music and art Scott made tiny changes that had a big impact on people from all walks of life.
Over the next two years, Tiny Changes aims to support young people in co-designing and leading projects while evaluating their impact. The goals are to invest £1 million in mental health and support 10,000 young people by the end of 2026.
The Role
The successful candidate will join an exciting and energetic organisation with a supportive culture that is going through a pivotal time of growth. The operations manager will play a key role in this journey, by supporting the CEO in managing all charity and day-to-day operational activities of Tiny Changes, furthering the charity's development in alignment with its objectives and strategic direction. Collaborating closely with Tiny Change’s small but collaborative and dynamic team, they will contribute to the overall direction of charity-wide operations.
This is a wide-encompassing role with responsibilities that include supporting the development and management of youth-led programs, fundraising, human resources, health and safety, and equality, diversity, and inclusion. Ensuring processes are up-to-date, compliant, and reflective of the charity's values is essential.
Ambitious and continuously growing, the team consists of 3 employees, 2 consultants, creative partners, volunteer Wavemakers, and 6 Trustees, with plans to add more Trustees. The Operations Manager will embody and promote Tiny Changes' values and mission by being bold, kind, honest, and hopeful, ultimately making a significant impact on young people’s mental health in Scotland.
The Person
The ideal candidate for the role at Tiny Changes will uphold and represent the charity's purpose, vision, values, and mission both personally and professionally. They should have a genuine commitment and enthusiasm for advancing Tiny Changes' work and goals. Key characteristics include alignment with Tiny Changes' vision and values—being Hopeful, Brave, Honest, and Kind. A knowledge of or interest in children's and young people's mental health issues in Scotland, and possessing active listening skills, a commitment to equality, and self-reflection is essential.
Essential experience and skills include operations management or consultancy (employment or freelance), leadership roles or consulting within the third sector, HR and people management, developing, delivering, and monitoring strategic and operational plans, community and youth-led mobilization or coproduction, developing, implementing, or managing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and strategic fundraising, including mass campaigns and Trusts and Foundations.
