Astute's Renewables team is working with an established business who run and operate a portfolio of anaerobic digestion plants. They are looking to recruit a HSEQ Assistant to support the HSEQ team in maintaining and enhancing safety, environmental and quality performance.
The HSEQ Assistant role comes with a salary of up to £29,000 (DOE), annual bonus, opportunities for growth and development and hybrid/remote working with site-based travel.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the HSEQ Director, you will:
Assist the HSEQ team with the day to day requirements of the EVE integrated
management system and co-ordinate specialist administration such as risk assessment
To be the first point of contact for gas detection alerts and lone worker device monitoring during office hours.
Assist sites with the completion of asset management registers and PPM requirements
Compile and organise COMPEX / ATEX and PUWER documentation into appropriate action plans
CDM projects.
Assist with emergency planning and response drills, tests and scenario planning.
Organise health surveillance for identified staff via approved providers.
Update and maintain training and competency matrices.
Assist with the co-ordination and presentation of HSEQ audit information.
Ensure Approved Supplier information is accurate for new and existing suppliers.
Maintain the approved vendors list and questionnaire processes to ensure quality
standards are maintained for goods and services.
Liaise with sites to ensure that Action Plan and inspection findings are completed on time.
To assist clients in booking and organising specific site requirements such as PSSR
statutory inspections and LOLER inspections.
Occasional travel to sites UK wide to assist the HSEQ Team with surveys, documentation reviews, assessments, calibrations, audits and inspections.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A relevant degree or diploma in HSEQ, Environmental Science, or a related field
IOSH Managing Safely (desirable)
NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable)
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Personal skills
The HSEQ Assistant role would suit someone who has:
Good environmental awareness, an awareness of the Health and Safety at work Act and associated legislation
An understanding of renewable energy and energy from waste.
Sound and demonstratable knowledge of MS Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook and Visio
