About the Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our Industrial Biomass team to undertake planned and reactive maintenance on biomass steam heating systems and associated equipment including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair works as required.

The role will involve:

Undertaking mechanical/electrical repairs as required

Undertaking planned maintenance, attendance, testing, and record keeping ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and industry good practice governing LTHW, steam, feed water quality, biomass combustion and records of inspections, maintenance routines and repairs including photographic records including Written Scheme Examinations

Ensuring optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary

Ensuring accurate and detailed reports and records, maintenance, testing, and HSEQ incidents; risk assessments and auditing

Monitoring feed water and emissions quality

Ensuring a high level of health and safety management on site, encouraging a strong health and safety culture and adherence with legislation and Company policies, including conducting regular audits and completing risk assessments and method statements

Escalating any serious Health and Safety concerns to the Head of Industrial Biomass Operations UK and HSEQ Manager

Assisting with the support of sub-contractors on site for ongoing operation and maintenance or capital works/upgrades as required

What we are looking for:

With demonstratable experience of carrying out frontline mechanical and/or electrical maintenance & repairs our successful candidate will also have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • HSEQ operator level training (e.g. safety passport/CSCS card), and training on completing site risk assessment/method statements
  • Completed Boiler operation accreditation scheme (BOAS) qualification for steam operator level
  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineering educational qualification (C&G, HNC, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Experience in working on heat and steam generating plant and equipment within large industrial sites with a continual heat demand and LTHW and steam systems including pumps, valves, hydraulics, controls
  • Familiarity with DCS/BMS controls and CMMS systems
  • Experience in working with biomass boilers and with biomass fuel
  • A critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders to build good working relationships with the team, contractors and the client
  • Flexible, committed and determined to ensure high operational and HSEQ performance across the biomass asset for 24/7 energy demand

Competitive salary to be discussed at interview

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00 with one-hour unpaid lunch break
