ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an experienced and hands on Head of IT to lead our technology department. This role requires a Head of IT who can drive innovation, ensure robust IT operations and support our business objectives through effective technology management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic IT LeadershipnDevelop and execute the IT strategy in alignment with the company’s business goals and regulatory requirements.nProvide strategic direction on the adoption and integration of new technologies to improve business efficiency and competitiveness.nLead the IT department in planning, managing, and implementing IT projects.
Technology ManagementnOversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and data centres.nEnsure high availability, performance, and security of all IT systems.nManage the selection and implementation of software solutions to support business processes.
Cybersecurity and CompliancenDevelop and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.nStay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and implement measures to mitigate risks.nEnsure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and FCA guidelines.
Budget and Vendor ManagementnDevelop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.nOversee relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality service delivery.nMonitor and evaluate the performance of IT service providers.
Audit ResponsibilitiesnLead and coordinate internal and external IT audits to ensure compliance with FCA regulations and industry standards.nDevelop, implement, and monitor IT audit frameworks and policies.nEnsure continuous audit readiness by maintaining up-to-date documentation and evidence.
User Access ManagementnOversee the development and implementation of user access policies and controls to ensure secure and appropriate access to systems and data.nConduct regular reviews and audits of user access rights and permissions to maintain least-privilege principle and ensure compliance.nManage the user access lifecycle, including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding processes.
Team Leadership and DevelopmentnLead, mentor, and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.nManage IT staffing, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and training.nPromote collaboration and effective communication within the IT department and with other business units.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP) is preferred.nProven experience in a senior IT leadership role, preferably within the financial services or brokerage industry.nStrong knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.nExperience of leading on technology audit.nExcellent strategic planning and project management skills.nStrong leadership and team management abilities.nEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
