Seeking a Talented Design Engineer - Mechanical for Materials and Manufacturing Sector in Cambridgeshire
Introductory paragraph:
Our client is an established company operating in the materials and manufacturing sector. They are currently seeking a highly skilled design engineer - mechanical to join their team on contract basis at their facility located in beautiful Cambridgeshire.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in mechanical engineering
- Relevant experience as a design engineer with expertise across various disciplines such as autoclave parts, bonded structures etc.
- Solidworks Surfacing experience is a must.
Skills:
Autoclave Parts:
The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of designing Autoclave components (parts) that can withstand high temperature/pressure environments. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing reliable systems ensuring optimum functionality under extreme conditions.
Bonded Structures:
Experience with designs involving bonding techniques would also be required by our client. Such candidates must possess sound knowledge about adhesive types, performance characteristics while being able to maintain robustness throughout the lifecycle of these products/components/systems.
Design Fixtures using Solidworks Surfacing :
Candidates applying for this role need to exhibit mastery over SOLIDWORKS surfacing tools when creating fixturing solutions aimed towards enhancing production efficiency during manufacture processes.
Responsibilities include but not limited :
- Developing efficient product/component concepts through feasibility studies based on specifications provided from stakeholders.
- Creating detailed 3D models using CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS,
to enable virtual test runs before actual physical tests commence.
- Conducting thorough analyses including FEA simulations which aid assessment of structural integrity/reliability/necessity/cost-effectiveness among other factors prior finalising concept selection phase .
- The work will involve the design of parts involved adhesive cures.
- The role will require design but also following up with document creation and presentations, design reviews to report on the intent of how jigs function.
- Need to understand DFM/manufacturing processes and implications of design.
Contract role - 6 months initial contract
Rate - £40 - £50 per hour (IR35 determination still to be done)
Hybrid - 4 days on site, 1 day at home.
