What does the role entail?n• To look after a range of payrolls and contribute to the firm’s aims to offer an accurate and quality service.n• Assist the Payroll Manager with the introduction and set up of new client and their payrolls.n• To review client issues and implement new procedures.n• To provide support on the Auto Enrolment aspect of payroll and ensure that relevant and up to date procedures are in placenManagement of Clientsn• To look after a range of payrolls and contribute to the firm’s aims to offer an accurate and quality service.n• To co-ordinate compliance, service delivery and ensure that the information is collected in the most efficient manner, timetabling work wherever possible to suit the needs of the client.n• To ensure that compliance deadlines are met.n• To identify opportunities for providing other relevant services.n• To maintain accurate and up to date client records on CCH.n• To produce file notes of any client meetings or telephone calls and circulate, as appropriate, to other staff members responsible for the client.n• To report any client dissatisfaction immediately via the Payroll Client Services module and/or the complaints procedure.n• To ensure that clients receive notices in a timely manner.n• To bring any problems to the Line Manager’s attention immediately.

Essential skillsn• Ability to process payrolls in accordance with departmental procedures and legislation.n• Manage the submission of client payroll data.n• Liaising with clients to ensure submission deadlines are met.n• Issuing payslips, summary reports and PAYE information to clients.n• BACS and electronic banking of salaries.n• Maternity, paternity and adoption pay administration.n• SSP administration (including the completion of SSP1 forms).n• User reports for NHS pension scheme data.n• Auto Enrolment provisions.n• Setting up of new payrolls on appropriate software.n• Technically compliant and gives due consideration to risk.n• Liaison with HMRC.n• Dealing with ad hoc payroll queries from clients and staff.n• Ability to build effective relationships internally across departments and externally.n• Works as a team and considers the needs of the whole department.n• Is a positive influence within the team and deals with problems/issues constructively.n• Plans to make effective use of time and consistently meets deadlines.n• Asks for feedback on own performance and seeks out opportunities for development.n• Appropriate computer software skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.n• Demonstrates attention to detail.n• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.n• Ability to use internal systems and procedures to set up and ensure Client Service standards are met for new clients.
