Location Woodside Park, North Finchley, London N12 Office-based (5 days/week) 8 hours per day/Flexible The role Were seeking an experienced, technically strong accountant to be our Accounts Manager and to manage a large portfolio of clients, prepare statutory accounts, review junior work and ensure compliance across the practice. This role is offered on a contract basis, or as an employee, depending on the candidate. Key responsibilities Prepare statutory annual accounts for limited companies (FRS 102/1A/ FRS105) and sole traders Prepare Corporation Tax computations and CT600 submissions; prepare Self-Assessment returns (SA100/SA800) Review and quality-assure accounts, working papers and tax computations prepared by junior staff; provide constructive feedback and mentoring Manage full accounts production cycle and deadline allocation for a large client portfolio (~400 clients) Review/prepare VAT returns and advise on VAT queries Ensure compliance with Companies House, HMRC and AML policies Use cloud accounting packages (Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage) and practice software (IRIS, TaxCalc) About you ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by extensive UK practice experience) Minimum 37 years experience within a UK accountancy practice, with strong accounts preparation and taxation experience for SMEs Proven experience reviewing and mentoring junior staff Confident user of practice systems (IRIS, TaxCalc); comfortable with cloud accounting Excellent communicator, highly organised and high attention to detail.
