Building Safety & Compliance ManagernPermanent Position | East London | Up to £60,000 per annum plus benefits | Housing Sector

Role OverviewnTake charge of the Building Safety and Compliance service for a Housing organisation based in East London, oversee a growing portfolio of residential projects in Newham and surrounding areas. As Building Safety & Compliance Manager you ensure all homes meet all Building and Fire Safety Regulations, conduct timely inspections, and manage contracts to uphold the highest safety standards for residents.

Key Responsibilities

Lead services across our housing portfolio, acting as the key figure for Building Safety regulations and legislation.nEnsure all buildings meet health and safety standards, covering residential, commercial properties, and offices.nSpearhead our adoption of the new Building Safety regime and develop fire safety strategies for each building.nInitiate, monitor, and audit a comprehensive inspection programme.nMaintain detailed compliance records and produce regular performance reports.nAdvise the Executive and Board on sector developments and regulations.nOversee contractors and service contracts, ensuring satisfactory completion and addressing deficiencies.nPrepare tender documents for maintenance management contracts.nEnhance our Asset Management systems for effective Building Safety oversight.nCollaborate with the finance team on budgeting and forecasting.nCoordinate with the new homes team on future developments and project handovers.nImplement efficient procurement practices for value maximisation.nHandle emergencies and urgent issues promptly.nDevelop annual budgets and assist in service charge forecasts.nLead on all health and safety aspects within Housing portfolionEnsure timely raising of works orders and manage follow-up actions.nMaintain clear, detailed records to ensure a 'Golden thread' of data.nEngage with residents on issues affecting their homes.nWork closely with the Asset & Facilities Manager to meet all service requirements.

Knowledge and Experience

Over 5 years in Building/Fire safety and compliance in residential management.nQualifications in Construction, Project Management, or Building Safety.nStrong grasp of current and future Building Safety requirements.nExcellent organisational skills from a dynamic Property Management background.nProven track record in delivering high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

Skills and Abilities

Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.nGood negotiation skills with a robust understanding of public procurement.nExcellent interpersonal and networking abilities.nEffective multitasking and prioritisation skills.nConfident in decision-making and meeting management.nExcellent time management and team leadership skills.nClear and concise writing skills, capable of handling complex documents.nProficient in property management software, Excel, Word, and IT systems.nPractical, flexible, and innovative approach to work.
