Role Overview:
Working with all aspects of design, relating to production, procurement, service support and technical documentation of electrical systems, within ‘Hydrogen Energy’ solutions. It will be your responsibility to ensure all equipment designed is done so to the highest levels of safety and quality standards and on time within the project plan.
Responsibilities:
· Take ownership of the design, and specify electrical equipment, including power distribution systems, motor control centres, instrumentation, and control systems.
· Coordinate and communicate requirements to external manufacturers assisting in the production process.
· Working closely across engineering disciplines to develop effective integrated solutions.
· Creating detailed electrical schematics and diagrams outlining the electrical layout.
· Active participation and contributions in HAZOP’s, LOPA’s, RA’s and RCI’s where applicable.
· Preparation of Bills of Material in line with system specifications.
· Liaison with Procurement department to ensure quality of parts and design integrity.
· Preparation of Technical file documentation and assisting with the O&M Manuals.
· Ensure that the H&S, quality, and environmental procedures are followed, and documentation completed appropriately.
· Production and maintenance of the projects ATEX documentation.
· Preparing technical/functional specifications for electrical equipment.
· Active participation in design reviews and project ‘Lessons Learned’ discussions, providing insight towards improvements.
· Actively contribute to the day-to-day learning and development of junior colleagues by sharing knowledge and experience.
· Regular liaison with customers on product requirements and progress made.
· Work with Production and field service to produce technical documentation for machine operation, testing and installation.
· Liaise with commercial team for all changes of engineering scopes to cost additional out of contract design work.
Success Measures:
· Completion and delivery of work packages within a timely manner to the Production department, ensuring compliance to wider project milestones.
· All Electrical designs are fully compliant with BS7671 and ATEX regulations.
· All technical documentation created and available to relevant stakeholders in line with design milestones and recorded as per the Integrated Management System SOP’s.
· Engineering change orders completed prior to any out of scope design work.
· No design failures at time of Production.
Desired Experience:
· Educated with a degree within electrical engineering or a related discipline OR holding substantial proven experience.
· Proven experience in producing high quality, detailed control panel designs including the integration of PLC’s, HMI’s and Drive Systems up to 33kV (within a manufacturing environment: Process, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy as examples are advantageous).
· Proven hands-on experience of performing electrical calculations, conducting system studies, and generating accurate engineering drawings with electrical design packages such as Eplan or similar.
· Experience of direct liaison with customers.
· Experienced in working as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team.
· Adept at system/circuit orientated layout of multiline diagrams.
· Expert MRP and BoM generation experience, in the ECO process.
· Solid understanding of procurement and manufacturing stages of a design lifecycle.
· Knowledge of ATEX Directive and other relevant functional safety standards such as DSEAR.
· Working knowledge of relevant technical standards (earthing philosophies, HV distribution as examples).
Skills Required:
· Commerically minded, with the ability to liaise with customers and determine change requests falling outside of original contract.
· Ability to work well within a team, across engineering disciplines and interdepartmentally.
· Able to demonstrate personal project management skills driving the delivery of work packages from the start to finish, demonstrating self-discipline and enthusiasm.
· Excellent time management skills: managing workload effectively to deliver designs on time, within a wider project schedule.
· Strong communication skills: at all levels, both verbal and written, internally and with customers, with the ability to translate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
· Methodical and detail-oriented approach to design.
· Ability to prioritize multiple work packages and maintain focus.
· Logical thinker with excellent analytical and fault-finding ability.
· Highly motivated, practical and proactive problem solver.
