The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our award-winning Energy team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and delivery of substation projects for major clients within the UK's energy sector.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design process for new build and extension projects on existing Transmission HV 132/275/400kV Substation projects.
  • Manage design requirements throughout the project lifecycle, from tendering to detailed design stages.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, including HV Plant, Protection and Control, and Civils specialists.
  • Act as the Principal Design Representative, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations and effective design information management.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives within the Business Unit and Group Design Management.
  • Review design submissions for technical accuracy, quality, and completeness.
  • Collaborate with project planners to develop and maintain the design and engineering aspects of project schedules.
  • Monitor and expedite key engineering program issues, including procurement of services and equipment.
  • Liaise with internal Temporary Works Coordinators and Designers to ensure constructability considerations are addressed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Manage relationships with external design consultants, overseeing their contracts, fees, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Review consultant invoices and provide feedback on project performance.

Your Profile

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with a proven track record in substation design. You will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams.
